Why are people protesting in Turkey?
Those who have taken to Istanbul's streets see the arrest of its mayor Ekrem Imamoglu as politically motivated, as he was formally arrested and jailed on the same day the Republican People's Party (CHP) was expected to vote him in as their presidential candidate for the 2028 elections.
