Chelsea will be aiming to solidify their place in the Premier League's top four with a positive result in a London derby against Arsenal. The Blues have won their last four games in all competitions and following Saturday’s results, have the chance to open up a gap between themselves and those chasing Champions League qualification places.
Due to player availability, a number of decisions already seem clear for Enzo Maresca but he does face some defensive dilemmas. Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah have all recently returned from injury with Malo Gusto hoping to join them back in action on Sunday.
Reece James has also overcome illness while Romeo Lavia will be pushing for some minutes after missing another significant period through injury. Several Chelsea stars remain unavailable, but the March international break looks set to provide further time to allow those out of action to get back up to speed.
With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Chelsea injury news ahead of the trip across the capital to face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
Romeo Lavia
Lavia is hoping for his first taste of action in two months having returned to the Chelsea matchday squad against Leicester City.
What Maresca has said: "He's much better, Romeo is much better. He's not in the Conference League squad unfortunately.
"For him, he's more or less similar to Reece James in terms of the main target for us is to help him to be fit until the end and play as many games as he can."
Possible return date: Arsenal (A) – Sunday, March 15
Nicolas Jackson
Injury: Hamstring
Jackson has been sorely missed by Chelsea during his six-week absence, but a return to the fold is firmly on the horizon.
What Maresca has said: "He [Jackson] will be back probably after the international break. Him and Noni [Madueke]. Before the international break we have two games, and finally, [the] break where we can recover the players and go for the last sprint."
Possible return date: Tottenham (H) – Thursday, April 3
Noni Madueke
Injury: Hamstring
Madueke picked up his muscular issue in a defeat to Brighton and has not featured since.
What Maresca has said: "Probably after the international break, him [Jackson] and Noni [Madueke]."
Possible return date: Tottenham (H) – Thursday, April 3
Malo Gusto
Injury: Ankle
Despite Maresca's initially positive update, Gusto has missed the last two matches after being forced off early into Chelsea's Conference League last-16 first leg win against Copenhagen.
What Maresca has said: "The only one still injured is Malo Gusto."
Possible return date: Tottenham (H) – Thursday, April 3
Mykhailo Mudryk
Mudyrk remains unavailable after testing positive for a banned substance earlier this year
What Maresca has said: "The only thing I can say is that we are close to Mykhailo as a club, and we are trying to help him. In terms of an update, I don't have one.'
Possible return date: Unknown
Marc Guiu
Injury: Hamstring
Guiu has been absent for the last few weeks after suffering an injury in the late stages of the win over West Ham.
What Maresca has said: "Marc will also be out for a while. He has a muscle problem, a hamstring issue as well, and will be out for a little while."
Possible return date: Unknown
