Omari Kellyman has confirmed he will miss the remainder of the 2024/25 season with another hamstring injury.
The 19-year-old had just returned from a lengthy hamstring injury that kept him on the sidelines for around five months but reinjured the same muscle over the weekend. Kellyman played just two matches for the Development Squad before suffering another injury, coming off the bench against Ipswich Town earlier in the month and lasted just 32 minutes – from the start – in the win against Norwich City on Saturday.
Just after the half-hour mark in Chelsea’s victory away at the young Canaries, Kellyman was driving forward down the right-hand side, and looked to get inside of the box but pulled up clutching the back of his leg. He could not carry on, and was visibly upset as he limped away, with Ronnie Stutter replacing the attacker.
"Beyond gutted to say that this season has come to an early end for me due to a reinjury of my hamstring, despite only just returning after having hamstring issues for a massive part of this season," Kellyman wrote on his Instagram page. "24/25 has been a tough season for me mentally and physically due to injury but it's important now that I take time to get this right and come out the other side stronger and better ready for what next season brings."
Kellyman was signed from Aston Villa last summer in a deal understood to be around £19million. However, the teenage midfielder is yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea. He has extremely high hopes of making it at Stamford Bridge, football.london understands, but this season has been a nightmare one for the former Villa playmaker.
Over the course of the season, Kellyman managed just three appearances in Premier League 2 for the Development Squad.
