The Chelsea dressing room response to Moises Caicedo shows they clearly agree with Enzo Maresca's decision to make him a key part of the club's Champions League push.
The 23-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions forthe Blues with one goal and two assists in 28 Premier League appearances. There were question marks following his big-money move to Stamford Bridge in 2023, but he’s since become one of the first names on the teamsheet.
The defensive midfielder was dubbed the 'perfect player' by Maresca earlier this season, with his performances up there with the best in the division.
“Since we started he has been doing fantastic in all aspects,” Maresca said. “He’s improving a lot, he’s understanding the game, he’s going in different positions and he’s open-minded. He’s a good guy, he’s humble, he works hard, so for a coach he is the perfect player.
“The good thing about Moi is whoever is playing next to Moi is playing good. When you find a player like Moi that makes the players next to them better, it shows how good they are.
“All the players that have played next to Moi this season – Enzo [Fernandez], Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall], Romeo [Lavia], Renato [Veiga] when he was with us, they are doing well and it is probably because the one next to them is good and helps them on the pitch.
“So Moi is a fantastic player, not just because of him, but also because he is making the rest better.”
Caicedo took to Instagram to celebrate the recent win over Leicester City, posting five pictures with the caption: “Home win to celebrate 120 years of history. Let’s go CHELSEA.”
A number of Chelsea players responded with Marc Cucurella posting an Octopus emoji in the comments, hinting at a new nickname for the former Brighton man – hinting at how tough it is for opponents to find a way past the midfield man.
Nicolas Jackson also replied with a flexed bicep emoji, highlighting his importance in the midfield engine room.
